Angleterre, 1987.
Javed est un adolescent d’origine pakistanaise. Il grandit a dans une petite ville, Luton, qui n’échappe pas à un climat social difficile. Afin d’échapper au racisme et au futur que son père imagine pour lui, il se réfugie dans l’écriture.
Mais pour lui, tout va changer, lorsqu’un camarade lui fait découvrir Bruce Springsteen. Javed est frappé par les paroles qui décrivent exactement ses sentiments…
